Is USDOT Truck Lettering Important? | Why Displaying Your Numbers Correctly Matters

It is extremely important to display all of your USDOT, MC, GVW, CA and applicable regulation numbers outside of your truck. The first benefit of displaying your regulation numbers is that it makes it easier and quicker when you pass through weigh stations. If you are inspected, the weight station worker can easily find your regulation numbers and plug them into the system, now image how much time is saved throughout your trucking career. The second benefit is that it shows professionalism to the public. We all have seen those carriers who write their regulation numbers in a white piece of paper and it looks sloppy. We highly advise against this, since the paper could easily blow away and you wont be DOT compliant.
